It’s no wonder women are standing up for their uteri next week in Washington, DC. After all, 71% of voters support Roe v. Wade, while Only 37% approve of a Brett Kavanaugh confirmation.
Beginning Tuesday, September 4, on the first day of Senate confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominee Kavanaugh, leading national women’s group UltraViolet will blanket Capitol Hill with ads stating, “Roe v. Wade is more popular than Brett Kavanaugh.”
The ads will be on posters throughout Capitol Hill and on taxi cabs throughout the city.
“If Brett Kavanaugh is appointed to the Supreme Court, he will undoubtedly be the deciding vote to gut Roe v. Wade and criminalize abortion, bringing us back to a dark chapter in this country’s history that forced women into unsafe, illegal abortion,” said Karin Roland, Chief Campaigns Officer of UltraViolet.
“There is a reason that support for Roe is at a historic high while support for Kavanaugh is at a historic low: The American public understands what is at stake with this vote,” Roland said.
“A Supreme Court with Brett Kavanaugh on it will roll back the rights of hundreds of millions of Americans, turn the clock back on decades worth of progress for women, for the LGBTQ community, for African Americans, for workers, and cement the worst of Donald Trump’s policies for generations to come,” she added.
The women’s group is also planning additional action gatherings against Kavanaugh, although, they have not yet been publicized.
Kavanaugh is currently the least popular Supreme Court nominee in decades. Well, except to the NRA maybe.
There are several crucial cases moving through lower courts currently that could make their way to the #SCOTUS. That’s why it’s so important #Kavanaugh be confirmed in September. Here’s a list of all the cases #gun owners should know about. https://t.co/EurROePA1c
